General Information - Committees

Nowhere is volunteerism more evident than at the committee level. In addition to our volunteer Board of Governors, we also have over a dozen department specific committees that help our staff evaluate and review programs and strategies. It is through this process that we can be assured of providing our members and the community with the best services available.

Committees are comprised of two co-chairs (the Department Director along with a member of our Board), participants from the general membership and where appropriate, members of the community.

What does it take to be a committee member? First and foremost interest and desire to help. Committees meet once a month throughout the year (although generally not during the summer) for about an hour to discuss concerns in various areas of the Y, make recommendations to staff, set goals, participate in fundraising, and generally become advocates for their specific area.
